Valentine's Day Bouquet with Conversation Hearts

Updated: Jan 19, 2022

Valentine's Day is coming up and there is no better way to show you care than with a custom flower arrangement! So beautiful and thoughtful, it's the perfect gift! Paired with a bottle of Colibri Rosé (on sale for a limited time CLICK HERE to order now), your special someone will feel all of the love this year! Watch the video below to see how to make your Valentine's Day Bouquet, step by step!

This flower arrangement is fun and simple to put together and best of all, it cost a grand total of $12! It looks like you spent hundreds of dollars, which is easy to do this time of year, but with a few simple tricks, you can create your own version for a fraction of the price of a premade bouquet!

First, head to your local dollar store and pick up two vases. One should be smaller than the other and can fit inside easily with room for the conversation hearts to slide between the two. While there, pick up enough bags of conversation hearts to fill the space between the vases. For my example, I used 3 bags - but it might be more or less depending on the vases you select. If possible, try and find the larger vase with perfectly vertical sides, not curved, as the conversation hearts will look the best against the flat sides. See image above for the vases I used.

Once you have your vases and candy, head to your local store and buy a bouquet of flowers. Now pricing will range drastically here. I found a beautiful arrangement that was on sale for $6 instead of $12 and it had such a fantastic range of colors and textures, I had to have it! You can pick any flowers you like. If you want it to be more classic, pick some roses, or if your special someone loves daisies or carnations, get those! It's really up to you!

Okay, now you have your flower, vases and conversation hearts, it's time to start assembling! Simply insert and center the smaller vase inside of the larger vase and add the conversation hearts until it fills up the space between the two vases on all sides. This is what it should look like when you are done from the top down.

Next, fill the inner vase with water and start adding your flowers! This is the fun part!

The key here is to keep the flowers nice and low, so they overlap the lip of the vases. We don't want to see the exposed candy hearts, so keep the flowers short and clustered together. I wanted to make my arrangement asymmetrical and I wanted to have it in the center of my kitchen table, so as I added flowers, I continued to turn the vase to different sides, to ensure it looked beautiful in a 360 degree view.

If you plan to put this on a countertop where your arrangement has a clear "front vs back" position, simply keep your vase facing you while you add your flowers so you can adjust the placement as you go. Remember, you can always cut off more, but you can't add the stems back on once you've cut them, so go slow and cut the flowers intentionally. Keep adding until you are happy with the overall look. And there you go! Simple, fun and extremely thoughtful!

Notice the super cute star and heart at the base of the flowers? Those are Valentine's Day magnets! It's a fantastic DIY project to include with your bouquet of flowers and bottle of wine! CLICK HERE to learn how to make these! They are so cute and are a perfect project for the whole family!
